About Stichting Breinspoken

Stichting Breinspoken is there for children and young people aged 4 to 18 who are growing up with a parent with young-onset dementia. Its starting point is that every child has a right to recognition, safety and understandable information — at home, at school and in care.

On its online platform the character Breinspookje explains dementia at a child's level, with separate age bands for 4-7, 7-10, 10-12 and 12-18, a mode for parents and caregivers, and material for teachers and professionals. The stichting also runs an annual summer camp for families, the sailing weekend Eb & Vloed for young adults of 18 and over, and training for professionals, and it works together with Alzheimercentrum Amsterdam.

The board works unpaid. Stichting Breinspoken has its seat in Tilburg and has held ANBI status since 25 December 2025.
